IBM develops a faster transistor

IBM announced they have developed a transistor that runs up to 100 times faster then the fastest CPU on the market today.
When cooled to absolute zero, the transistor runs at 500 GHz, but will run at 300 GHz at room temperature.
They've achieved this by lacing the silicone with germanium to achieve faster transfer rates.
The possibilities are endless for this kind of technology.

Sony, a definate late comer to the market, comes out swining with the new DSLR-A100 10.2M digital SLR camera.
This monster of a camera comes packed with features. Weighing in at 1lb 3oz without the battery or lens the alpha comes with image stabilization built into the camera, and a dust resistant CCD that vibrates when you turn the camera off to knock off any dust that may have landed on the CCD while changing lenses.
This top dog also comes with an auto focusing system when it detects the eye at the viewfinder, selectable 9 point auto focus, 3 fps continuious shot mode, and dual media formats (CF I/II + memory stick).
Possibly the most significant is the built in image stabilization, I really can't wait to see how well it works.
The camera with an 18-70mm lens kit will retail for 999.95 when it comes out in late July.

New beautiful Sony Bravia XBR's coming this fall. Available in 40 46 and 52" the XBR3 is piano black and the XBR2 has swappable bezel's for color matching. Both go back to the floating glass look, hidden speakers, and come fully loaded with 1080p resolution. XBR3 46" is tentatively priced at $5,300.

I've never owned an Apple product in my life. Ever.... I don't own an ipod, I didn't even own a Newton... but I love that Apple is now offering free recycling on all old PC's when you purchase a new Apple.

My first day of having this blog up and there's really not much to speak of techie in the news today so I'll take this time to confront my demons.
I'm addicted to video games.
Not like... totally... I mean I could quit anytime I just don't want to.
...
So for the last several months I've given up the MMORPG games and moved to consoles... the Gamecube in particular.
I've played MMO's since some time in 2001 but I really started with MUDD's (multi-user dungeons and dragons) which wouldn't really be classified as an MMO.
When I was a kid I played quite a few console games... after I heard of the new Zelda game coming out for the Gamecube (which was due out in March originally) I knew I wanted to play it. So I got a GC for my birthday from my family and tried to hold out for the new Zelda game... I've now since February played through about.... 12 GC games I think... I get them used from EB, play'em all the way through, then sell em on eBay. The GC was a lot more fun then I thought it would be but now I'm finding myself out of games I want to play for it... so what next? Zelda doesn't come out till November... Now I'm about 6 hours into Kingdom Hearts... what a fantastic game... I forgot how great Square games are and how good games were for the PS2... MMO's have definitely consumed quite a bit of gaming time for me... so far playing catchup on the consoles hasn't been cheap :P

I'm kinda a geeky person. I love tech stuff, video games, and so forth... I work at a TV store full time... you get the idea... so this blog is going to be all the stuff I see and say "hey look at this honey" to which I usually get a roll of the eyes and a pat on the head.... this is my tech blog :D
